Siesta Key is a barrier island located in Sarasota County between Roberts Bay and the Gulf of Mexico.  Between Siesta Village to the North and Point of Rocks to the South residents have access to over 50 miles of canals and waterways. Siesta Key retains the Old Florida lifestyle and a small town feel.  Tropical landscaping, sea oats and mangroves provide habitats for beautiful native Florida birds. Siesta Key beaches which extend the length of the island are recognized as having the finest and whitest sand in the world. Consisting of pulverized quartz, the sand has been compared to the consistency of powdered sugar.  Siesta Beach offers lifeguard protection, beach wheelchairs and concessions for that perfect beach day. Crescent beach is called the “most private, public beach” perfect for snorkeling or diving to explore the beautiful marine life.  The dark sand of Turtle Beach, locatedon the South end of the Key, attracts shell collectors and beach combers especially after a storm.

Easily accessible by the Siesta Key Trolley which runs November through September are two main shopping areas, Siesta Key Village and Siesta  South.  Public transportation is also available into Sarasota which offers world class museums, galleries and cultural events.
